General History
Prince Robert was originally built in 1930 as a cruise ship for the Canadian National Steamships West Coast Service. Upon Canada's entry into WW2, she was requisitioned and converted into an armed merchant cruiser, in which role she distinguished herself. In 1943, she was further converted to an anti-aircraft cruiser and more closely resembled a warship than a cruise liner. Prince Robert was re-converted to a cruise ship post war and ended her days as the CHARLTON SOVEREIGN in 1962.
